Corzan® CPVC:
A Reliable Solution for
Industrial Water Treatment
Corzan® CPVC meets the ever-increasing demands of progressive water treatment, providing increased operational efficiency and proven field performance.
The corrosive effects of chemicals and microbes to pipes, valves and fittings can directly impact the bottom line at water and wastewater treatment plants. This presents a challenge to procurement officials and engineers looking for a cost-effective solution that ensures quality and reliable long term performance. Corzan® CPVC Industrial Systems answers the needs of water and wastewater treatment.
Why Corzan® CPVC is the dependable choice for Industrial Water Treatment
Made of an easy-to-install, durable, and high-performance CPVC, Corzan® pipe, fittings and valves provide the necessary integrity required by water and wastewater treatment applications. The industry relies on industrial pipework made with Corzan® CPVC because it:
- Eliminates internal and external corrosion caused by the corrosive chemicals used in treatment processes
- Blocks the degrading effects of microorganisms, chemicals and UV light
- Ensures optimal flow rates with excellent hydraulic capabilities
- Provides long-term performance with superior mechanical strength and high impact resistance (24448 cell class up to 8 inches in diameter, as defined by ASTM-D1784) of any CPVC pipe compound available on the market
- Meets and exceeds regulatory requirements, including NSF International standards for potable water safety, and smoke and flame resistance
- Reduces installation time thanks to a lightweight design (depending of the pipe standard applied, up to 1/3 the weight of steel) and an easy joining system that does not need any power supply
- Significantly lowers life-cycle costs over other systems that require continual maintenance
Corzan® CPVC: The Solution for Every WasteWater Treatment
From primary wastewater treatment to wastewater odor control, Corzan® CPVC meets the demands of every process application.
Primary Wastewater Treatment
Corzan® CPVC Pipe, Fittings and Valves are not susceptible to microbial corrosion and are resistant to the commonly used chemical processes, such as:
- Ferrous chloride
- Ferric chloride
- Alum
- Alkaline lime slurry
A constant Hazen Williams C Factor of 150 enables smaller pipe diameter to be specified, resulting in product cost savings and requiring less energy to transfer fluids.
Secondary Wastewater Treatment
This process exposes piping to high concentrations of microorganisms when excessive biological growth washes out and collects in a clarifier. The byproducts of these microbes, the acids, hydrogen sulfide, disinfectants and dechlorination chemicals, directly contribute to the corrosion of metallic piping systems.
Corzan® industrial piping maintains its strength and integrity against chemical and microbial corrosion, even when used to transport highly concentrated acids and caustic solutions used for pH controls. The excellent UV resistance and heat tolerance of Corzan® CPVC ensures consistent performance in outdoor applications.
Advanced Water Treatment
Corzan® Industrial Systems provide unwavering performance even when exposed to cooling tower applications and handling nominal concentrations of methanol for biological denitrification.
Wastewater Odor Control
With today's long list of odor control mandates, Corzan® Industrial Systems are a proven material used in both traditional wastewater applications and in scrubbers and ancillary equipment.
Irrespective of whether a plant is using sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite in its wet air scrubbers at temperatures as high as 93°C (200°F), or metal chelating agents in a liquid redox process, Corzan® products provide the chemical resistance and superior high-temperature performance required by the strictest wastewater odor control processes.
Corzan® CPVC: Safe and Reliable Solutions for Potable Water Systems
Understand how the attributes of Corzan® CPVC meet the requirements of every process application.
Desalination Systems
Corzan® Industrial Systems can manage the chemical feeds desalination systems require, such as those used in reverse osmosis processing. Because Corzan® pipes and fittings are not susceptible to attacks from high chloride, there is no need to passivate the piping system or invest in cathodic protection against corrosion. The materials ability to resist ozonated water, high temperature and UV rays, Corzan® CPVC is the cost-effective, safe and trustworthy solution for potable water service in desert and coastal environments, which suffer from growing water shortages.
Water Treatment
Corzan® pipes and fittings are an ideal solution where raw water is treated with corrosive chemicals, and/or where chloride levels exceed the limitations of 316L stainless steel. Corzan® CPVC has demonstrated long-term performance in water distribution applications - even in aggressive saltwater environments.
Piping systems manufactured from Corzan® CPVC material are backed by third-party certification from NSF International to meet or exceed strict drinking water standards, ensuring the highest water quality the treatment system can provide.
