Technical Support When and Where You Need It
When choosing a piping material, it is important to look for a partner that will be with you beyond the initial sale. You can expect help during the product evaluation and specification stage, but can the manufacturer be counted on to provide expert, timely support throughout installation and over the life of the piping system?
With Corzan® Piping Systems, you’re not just buying high-quality CPVC piping material. You’re also partnering with the pioneer in CPVC technology. Backed by 60 years of CPVC experience, our regional product and engineering specialists – like Territory Manager Steve Manis – are always on call.
Connecting the Parts
Steve Manis isn’t a salesman. Not in the typical sense at least. Steve spent most of his career as a plumber and union contractor, leading one of the largest union contractors in Southern Florida. Now with Lubrizol for nearly 15 years, Steve sees his role as educator and consultant, helping to pass along his deep knowledge from years of on-the-job learning to contractors working with Corzan CPVC pipes and fittings.
“I don’t sell a product. Instead, it’s ideas and solutions that I share with the guys on the job site,” said Steve. “Plumbing isn’t just a profession. It’s a craft. And I’m here to help them take pride in the work they’re doing by making sure they have a successful install that lasts.”
Take for example the common misconception that “anyone can glue pipes together.” This statement is wrong for two reasons. For one, solvent welding isn’t gluing. It is a chemical process using resins and solvents. Secondly, while it is simple to install Corzan CPVC pipes and fittings, there are steps that need to be followed for the correct installation. When these steps are followed, the back third of the socket is where 85 percent of the strength of the joint is.
Steve knows that simple oversights can cause huge headaches down the road for facility managers and the contractors who are called back to examine what went wrong with their until-now successful installation. By working alongside the contractor during the install, Steve provides valuable support. He’s also passing on knowledge and education that the installers will take with them to countless jobs in the future.
Turning Skeptics into Advocates
Whether he’s working with a new plumber or an experienced pipe fitter with decades of experience welding metal pipes, Steve takes particular pride in helping first-time Corzan CPVC installers not only build comfort in working with the material but also in giving them the tools to achieve an easy installation in record time.
One project where Steve was instrumental was the W Hotel in a popular Florida destination. Read that case study here.
