Today it is common installation practice to utilize riser clamp configurations instead of expansion loops to control the thermal expansion of vertical hot water risers in multi-story buildings. Lubrizol Advanced Materials asked Stress Engineering Services to validate this restraint configuration for Corzan® CPVC in a detailed computational analysis.
This white paper:
- Analyzes the stresses and strains to five diameters of Corzan CPVC Schedule 80 pipe subjected to combinations of temperature and internal pressures
- Compares these stresses against published limitations of the material to determine adequacy of the practice
- Describes the installation parameters required for acceptable stress states using riser clamping configurations
